Diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) is a potent amino polycarboxylic acid chelating agent composed of a diethylenetriamine backbone and five carboxyl groups. It forms stable complexes with various metal ions such as iron, copper, zinc, and cadmium. DTPA is widely used in water treatment, textile auxiliaries, the papermaking industry, pharmaceuticals (heavy metal detoxification), and rare earth separation. It exhibits excellent water solubility, stability across a wide pH range, and biodegradability.
